The Gates Firefighters Local 3792 held their annual MDA Fill the Boot for Jerry’s Kids yesterday. The firefighters raised $8,700 to help the MDA cause.

MDA "Fill the Boot" 2011"

Local 3792 will be doing our annual "Fill the Boot" for the MDA on Thursday May 26, 2011.  During the morning commute firefighters will be at the intersections of Buffalo rd/Coldwater rd  and Chili ave/ Fisher rd.  In the afternoon firefighters will be at the intersection of Long Pond Rd/Spencerport rd.  We look forward to seeing you to help support "Jerry's Kids"

Working Fire

Gates Firefighters responded early this morning for a building fire on Weidner Dr. While responding, 4C65 reported a lot of black smoke in the area. 4C65 further reported a 2 1/2 story vacant house with the second floor fully involved. 4C35 went on location and reported a working fire. Engine 7, Battalion 2 and an Engine from Chili responded to the scene while Chili and Ridge Road provided fill in companies. The cause of the fire is under investigation.

Fatal CO Call

May 5, 2011


Gates Firefighters responded this afternoon to Nisa Lane for the report of four people feeling sick due to CO. Command reported a total of five victims that were in the house, four had to be removed by Firefighters and the fifth was self extricated. Command reported one fatality and one pediatric that was in respiratory arrest. The pediatric victim was later transferred to a Buffalo area hospital by Mercy Flight to be put in a hyperbaric chamber. The CO reading in the house as 225 ppm, and firefighters found a generator in the garage which was in the on position that had run out of fuel.
